Crashed after graphics switch

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Screen size, Bluetooth, Durability, Build Quality
Cons: Display performance, Weight

I have the W500 for 7 months now. The system crashed last month after I switched the graphics to low energy setting. I have always liked Thinkpads because of reliability but now I have doubts. I had to do a clean install of all software.

My W500 is fast and I like the ThinkVantage feature which downloads the Lenovo driver updates. The WIFI connection connects quickly. I also like the fingerprint feature. The processor does not produce a lot of heat and quiet.

I don't have LED backlighting and the screen is not as bright compared to my older (8 years old) Toshiba laptop especially when watching movies even when brightness is set to high. So the screen looks dark when watching movies.

All USB ports are on the left side. I would have preferred at least one USB port on the right side of the laptop. There are no Esata port and HDMI port. There is a display port but I found out from the Thinkpad forum that even if I attach an HDMI adapter to it, I would still need to connect a separate audio line to the TV.

I have a 6 cell baterry and it lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Good purchase for the price

Pros:

Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Wireless card, Screen size, Video card, Build Quality
Cons: Memory

I needed a new laptop for graphic programs and this laptop provided me with a solid performing machine with the convenience of having a wide screen. I had XP installed to work with my older programs and maxed out the ram. I may upgrade next year to vista and add more ram, but for the time being this laptop is working great.
good upgrade

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Bluetooth, Weight, Battery, Included software, Durability, Warranty, Build Quality
Cons: Storage

I was using T60 model for 2 years. I decided to move to W500. T60 served me well, and I am very happy with W500 also.
