Works Pretty WellDate: November 18, 2008Pros: Keyboard/peripherals, Battery, Included software, Build Quality

I got the T500 with 2.53 GHz (9400) processor, and 2GB SDRAM, with Vista Business "downgradeable" to XP Pro in late October 08.
Although they said 2 weeks for buildtime, I had it in about a week. Nice!

So far am pretty happy with the T500. My last laptop was a 15.4" HP Pavilion, so can't speak to other's issues with new keyboard: it seems good to me. Battery life is way better than with the HP, in part because of the power management features. I wish those were a little more accessible and intuitive though. Runs a lot cooler & quieter than the HP too.

Small issues: I wish the T500 came with a paper manual. I'd probably have figured out a lot more of the features and used them by now... Oh well. Also wish the USB ports were horizontal, not vertical.

Haven't used the extra drive bay insert that I got. Looking forward to see how that works out.

I'm impressed with the sturdy build of the T500. The HP screen hinge was pretty floppy from the beginning. No slop on the T500.

I spent somewhat more money than I planned, and more than I would have on another HP or a Dell with similar features. But I chose the T500 for the sturdy build (my HP crapped out in less than 2 years) and for the quite cool operation. So far, so good!

I love this laptop, it has been great, I love the battery life which is a lot longer than any laptop I have had before. Graphics are great and the docking station is nice for having a big screen in the office.
