Overall excellent performer

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Bluetooth, Weight, Included software
Cons: Build Quality

I am very impressed with the performance of this laptop. The processors offered are latest in the market. Keyboard is comfortable to type on. The bundled software makes managing laptop power, wireless, memory, backup, security etc much easier. The build quality is alright overall except that one of my mouse buttons (the buttons below the touchpad) became loose overtime and creaks when pressed.

2nd Thinkpad since 2001

Pros:

Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Screen size, Weight, Durability, Build Quality

i've never had a problem with a thinkpad, aside from parts aging, but that's to be expected.

i travel with this thing daily, so i wanted a machine that could hold up to lots of bouncing around in a backpack, and thinkpads are known for their durability.

the t-400 is running like a dream, and i'm very glad to have it!

Great value for your money + Reliability

Pros:

Processor, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Battery, Durability, Warranty, Security Features
Cons: Keyboard/peripherals, Build Quality

Great laptop overall with the switchable graphics and LED backlight screen being one of the feature that helped me decide to buy the T400 [vs. Dell latitude E6400 and XPS M1530 and HP dv5t]. The legendary Thinkpad RELIABILITY definitely helped me choose the T400. The 9cell battery is great is terms of battery life, but it does stick out a bit, so there is some issue when carrying the laptop. The performance is great overall even with some gaming [including gears of war] without too much trouble. Too bad there is a TYPO on the graphics card description from the website [3600 series would have been nice]. The screen is superb in terms of brightness and color. I am using for grad school with mild gaming.

The BAD: there is some flex on the right side of the keyboard and on the palmrest. There is some flex above the optical drive and on the right side corner by the HD."0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Share this Review:Review 20 for T400_AMD Overall5out of 5Performance5out of 5Mobility5out of 5Design5out of 5Features5out of 5Value5out of 5Reliability4out of 5 Benjammin

Don't regret the choice at all...Date: November 5, 2008Pros: Processor, Memory, Storage, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Durability

"One word that really describes this thing is practical. With the classic, rugged thinkpad style (if they tried to make it look nicer, it would really be a sin! this is how thinkpads are meant to look), its promises to tear applications apart (in a good way) with ease. And it does, it does. I got it with relatively high settings, for about 1200 bucks... and it was a very good buy. Great value. There's a lot of extra lenovo software on it, but i dont find too much of a decrease in performance.
I bought this more as a business/college laptop than anything else. But quite frankly, its versatility can't be overstated. It can run high-demand movies and games (with its nice hybrid graphics system) at relatively high frame-rates. However, I wouldn't recommend this for pure gamers. Especially since they're into flashy lights and such.
In terms of reliability, I have had almost no problems whatsoever. The one thing is that a key broke (a tiny little white plastic thing cracked) but I'm sure the warranty will cover that.
I do regret not buying a larger battery, since the power efficiency is so good, I can only imagine how much a battery 4 times the capacity might benefit.
It's a little heavy, but not bad, since its only 14.1". And its super durable... I spilled coffee on the thing and noticed NO side effects after i cleaned it a little.
I cannot emphasize enough how nice the LED backlit screen is... if only more models came with this feature... less power for a better visual. love it!
Overall, I really think this is one of Lenovo's hidden flagship products... a really great buy.
