Finally, a computer I enjoy using

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Display resolution, Screen size, Durability, Build Quality
Cons: Weight

I purchased the R500 about 6 months ago after a couple months of laptop shopping. I was impressed with its speed right away, and after six months of using my R500, I'm still impressed. I've found that it's just as fast as the day I bought it, and I have had absolutely nothing to complain about. And I like everything from the feel of the keys to the 15" screen to the way the ports are arranged to the fact that the fan is very, very quiet. I've also used it on my lap for several hours straight (even watching DVDs) without noticing any appreciable warmth.

The only downsize is that the widescreen makes it a bit on the heavy side, but it's not so bad, and I find I can still walk the half mile from home to work with it without too much trouble.

Also, I run a dual-boot setup on this machine, with both Vista and Ubuntu 9.04, and I can tell you that if you are an Ubuntu user and need a laptop that works very well with Ubuntu running on it, this is definitely one that does and is worth your consideration.

Simply the best.

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Battery, Included software, Durability, Support, Build Quality
Cons: outer case shows fingerprints very easily.

I have owned IBM compatible laptops from some of the top brand makers, including Dell, HP, Compaq(pre-merger), and Acer and to be precise I have enjoyed the Lenovo Thinkpad R500 beter than them all. The performance in terms of speed and stability are excellent. Connecting wirelessly was a real challenge with my Compaq Presario, but my R500 is online and blazing a trail in a couple seconds utilizing the same broadband service. I really have enjoyed the incidental features like the sturdy design and built in roll cage to provide additional piece of mind. I am the type of shopper that likes to use a good product for as long as possible and I beleive the R500 will be with me for a long time without the hassle of having to upgrade due to outdated performance. Finally, I have to say that the price is very reasonable for the caliber of equipment that you are getting. In coclusion, I feel that this is simply the best value and product in its price range and class.

Ultimate College Laptop

Pros:

Processor, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Screen size, Display performance, Weight, Durability, Support, Build Quality

I purchased this Thinkpad for College use and I am very impressed. I ordered it and it came within a week of purchase. The amount of machine for the money is impressive. This laptop is very fast and reliable. The best feature in my opinion is the keyboard. I can type for extended periods of time without pain or fatigue in my hands, arms, or fingers. Many other keyboards are just uncomfortable. The ThinkVantage software is very convenient becuase most of the features are in one place. Another plus is that nobody I know has a laptop like my ThinkPad, so it stands out from the crowd. The people in customer support and technical support are also very helpful. I would recommend this laptop computer to other people, in fact, I already have and they purchased one (of another model). Thanks for a great product.
