I upgraded to a HP DV7T notebook from my older HP DV9000 and I am just as happy with this computer as I was with my last notebook of 3 years.
I purchased the moonlight white because I liked the contrast it brings to my room. I have a black television, black X-Box, and a black PS3, so the clean white of this notebook is amazing.
I purchased it custom made from HP, and using an online coupon I saved $389.
If this computer is built as solid as my last one, I know it will last for quite a while, and with all the processing power I know this will be able to handle anything I throw at it.
The 17.3" screen is amazing, and this computer is excellent to watch movies on, especially when I plug it into my 47" LCD TV via the HDMI port.
For anyone looking for a new notebook, this is the best bang for the buck, not to mention that the moonlight white is really amazing.
The laptop is good all and all, the hp media controls are a little buggy at times. The one with volume control and wireless internet toggle. Nothing to big you can get the hang of it at times.
I recommend you get a higher cpu than the default one, the CPU doesn't match up to the graphics and hold back the frames at times.
Get the black skin because this thing collects fingerprints like crazy, and the black will sort of hide them.
Other than that its great if your a student ask for the student discount.
I have this laptop for about a month. I have the intell t4200/512mb Avi video card/64bitvista/4gb RAM/320gb HD/HD/TV Tuner.
I love the large screen. its awesome for multi-tasking. I can watch TV/movies and surf the wed all at once. The TV tuner works great. Haven't had the change to try it out on any HD channels yet.
It has run everything i have thrown at it. Every game I've tried. Some being graphically intense.
It does bog down a little when trying to do to much(i.e. download vidoes, playing video games, surfing the web, and watching movies all at once) But that has more to do with my processor not being the low end model due to money limits.
Only problem I have is trying to keep it clean. Touch pad has many finger prints, and where you rest your wrists tend to get smudged pretty badly. But other than that the design is great. It looks stunning when its clean.
Its on the large side buts that was a sacrifice I would be willing to make again for a computer this nice. My major advice is to buy a bag for it ASAP.
Overall the massive amount of pros out weight the very few cons.
I recommend this laptop to everyone. And if not this one the dv6 series which is slightly smaller than the dv7.
