I bought my Pavilion dv6830us a year ago, and I've only had to take it back once, and that was because I was computer illiterate-it took the store clerk 2 seconds (literally) to fix my mistake. The dvd player is flawless, and the screen is wonderful. I was a tiny bit upset to see HP isn't offering environmentally freindly material laptops, but my choice probably wouldn't change even after this new information, because the performance is what really matters. Also, I was a little bewildered to find no hard disc drive, or old regular game controller port, but I guess that's because I'm a little behind the times. I don't think you could find a more beautiful laptop with as high a performance or reliability at the price. As far as speakers, I think any brand of laptop needs to improve, although I must say my headphones blew my mind!

I own this laptop and it by far exceedes my expectations. It is beautiful and runs smoothly. The only bad thing is the battery life isnt so great and the ac adapter gets really hot and tangled. I would definetly recomend this product to friends.

"I must begin by stating that this is my 1st laptop. I got this as a possible replacement to my desktop which has served me well over the past seven years. I searched over 6 months trying to find the perfect one for me. I knew that HP is a trusted brand, so I kept debating on which model. I was going to stores on a weekly basis to see if their laptops would have everything which I needed. Unfortunately, they did not. I decided: if I am going to spend my money, I have to make it the way I want it. This is what mine has: 4GB RAM 64MB Vista OS Home Premium Fingerprint scanner Webcam(which I have yet to try) 512MB ATI Radeon graphics card Intel Core Duo T6400 2.0Ghz I chose the white to be different =-) When I took it out of the box, I was seriously impressed. It took me around 15 minutes to get the settings just the way I wanted them. The battery doesn't get too hot, so that is also a plus. It has a listing weight of slightly over six pounds, but it is still rather light. I am glad that I chose this model and glad that I decided to custom build this =-) If you decide to get this model, you will not be disappointed!"
