For anyone shopping under-$1000 laptops, this is a go-to machine. I ordered the most basic version with the only exception being an extended 12-cell battery, and I must say that this is a convenient machine. Pros: The laptop and screen are large enough such that typing and viewing both text and movies is simple, yet it is small enough to fit in most bags and be portable Internal disk drive Plethora of expansion ports plus sd card reader Number pad Webcam In my test (which consisted of uninterrupted movie watching with the sound turned halfway up), I eked out 5 hours of battery life. Easy to adjust volume, screen brightness Two headphone jacks After botching a jump over a creek, I can confidently state that this laptop is at the very least water-resistant It's not a Mac or an Ipad (thank you hp) For under $700, this is powerful. The dual cores and 3 gbs of ram can handle almost anything The disk drive isn't loose like on some other computers and it is of comparable, if not better, quality to desktop disk drives Cons: Included remote not very useful (seems more like a gimmick) For some odd reason, if the computer is left unattended and operating without having been put into standby or hibernation, it will take unnaturally long to wake up after power returns to the screen. It's not a huge inconvenience Mic is not included

Exactly What I was Looking For

This laptop is great... it's fast and it has everything for a college student . This is a great buy, I absolutely recommend this laptop

First off, the reason I sought this laptop off is because I am a firm believer in the AMD processor. They perform better and cost less, it is a win/win. That being said, I ordered the best one I could. Got the M640 (2.6ghz) processor, 4 gigs ram, 500gb hard drive, 1gb ATI video card, wireless/bluetooth. It is by far the best keyboard I have ever had on any laptop I've ever used, maybe even when compared to desktop keyboards, love it. I love having the numpad on the side too. The functionality and practicality of the buttons and everything available on this laptop are great. HDMI out, dvd burner with lightscribe, webcam, remote control for video and media, great great great. It is super fast and smooth and I really enjoy Windows 7. Looking forward to using this laptop for some time.
