No wonder I stick with HP products.

Overall I love this laptop. Very handsome and stylish; has a very solid and well-built feel to it. Seems plenty fast at handling the basic tasks I use it for (and then some). Nice assortment of ports and a crisp, bright screen. Keyboard seems pretty decent; maybe just a tad on the soft side, and I wish the arrow keys were larger, but it's pretty easy to type (maybe laptop keyboards are supposed to be that way?). Mouse touchpad was a little sensitive, but adjusting the settings alleviated the problem.

No issues with Vista 64-bit as of yet; I even installed several semi-old games, and they all run just fine, including Unreal Tournament 2004 at high detail levels. With the ATI 4530 graphics card, Vista gives it a 5.1 Experience Index (4.9 for the Turion X2 CPU).

WiFi works really well in my home, even with my new 802.11n wireless router. Sound quality is excellent through the headphone jacks (built-in speakers are perfectly acceptable for casual listening), and I love how you can adjust the volume by sliding your finger across the volume control. Plus the HP logo on the lid that lights up is a nice touch, and the little remote it comes with is actually kind of cute.

Any cons? Okay, the fingerprints ... but honestly, it doesn’t bother me that much.

HP's great website and online store made the shopping experience a pleasant one, and on top of that it arrived on my doorstep ahead of schedule. If you're in the market for a notebook, this one definitely deserves some serious consideration.

Excellent Laptop

Pros: Good battery life, great screen, good graphics, HP remote, neat design
Cons: Webcam has mediocre quality, friction with touchpad, somewhat loud CPU fan, a bit heavy, fingerprint collector

There are two things I want to say to people before they buy this laptop: Number one - get the 12-cell battery. With this you can get a good 5 hours doing basic tasks. Number two - if you're going to complain about the laptop being slow out of the box, make sure you uninstall HP's bloatware that may be included on this laptop. An easy way to do this is get PC Decrapifier and uninstall things like WildTangent games, HP Start Menu, HP QuickLaunch, and MyDVD. If you aren't sure about getting rid of these things, you can prevent them from starting up from the Control Panel > Startup Programs.

This laptop comes with a decent graphics card which can handle casual gaming without a problem. If you're a gamer and like to play modern games, upgrade to the dedicated graphics option. The 12-cell battery is the best choice because it keeps good air flow underneath the computer. It also gives a good typing angle when on a flat surface. You don't want to put this laptop on your bed, for example, or it will start heating up.

The touchpad is created so that it has the same sleek surface as the rest of the laptop. It's slippery and creates a bit of friction when you run your finger along it. A good way to solve this problem is to go into the Control Panel and change the sensitivity of the mouse pointer to its highest point. Speaking of the touchpad, it can gather a lot of fingerprints as well as the keyboard and the rest of the laptop. Use a dry cloth to clean the screen, and a slightly wet cloth to clean the keyboard, touchpad, and everything else.

With that said, I am having a great experience with this laptop. It's fast, boots up Vista in a little over a minute, and runs programs quickly. Wireless connectivity allows a strong signal, and it's cool that you can do things with the HP remote that comes with the laptop. Also if you're going to be watching movies on battery power you'll want to have a copy of them on your hard drive, as the CD/DVD drive will use up battery power quickly. The graphics are very nice, and play movies and games crystal clear without choppiness.

Overall, there's not much that keeps this laptop from being perfect. I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone!
