Greatest Laptop Purchase

Great product. The outer shell of the computer is very high quality. I have had no problems with the hardware. The screen is crisp and clear. The keyboard is full sized (despite the laptop's small size). The only problem that i have had is with Vista. I tried to update it the first night, and the updates failed. The next day, my speakers and Media control buttons stopped working. I removed the updated drivers, and re-installed the updates and it worked fine (google search 'driver rollback' for more help). There is a lot of free software on the computer, but can be easily un-installed. Overall, the quality of this computer is the highest that I have seen (I have 4 computers in my house!), and the value cannot be beat! Way to go HP!

Good Laptop for Student

I needed a laptop for college and was on a budget so after some research I bought this notebook. It is the perfect compact size I was looking for, not too big nor too small, and the design is nice as well. My only suggestion would be for a lit keyboard so in the dark I don't have to search for keys. I highly recommend the finger print reader if you go online alot and have many accounts to log in...it saves a lot of time and is a handy little tool. My configuration was the basic dual core I think T4200 processor with 4gigs of RAM and everything has run pretty smoothly (using Vista premium). All in all, great notebook!

What a GREAT computer

I've been an on-again, off-again laptop user. Recently, I decided to get a small, full-featured computer with long battery life. After doing considerable research, it came down to the dv3t or dv4t. Initially, I purchased a customized dv3t, but had a couple of problems with it (the accidental resizing of web pages is a real issue).

Using that configuration and price as a baseline, I decided to try again with a customized dv4t, and boy am I glad I did. For about $850, I was able to get a p8700, 4GB, 250GB HD (yeah, 320 GB would have been nicer, but coupon timing was off for a free upgrade, and a $50 upgrade price is unreasonable), Blu-ray, wireless-n, fingerprint reader,12-cell battery. Oh, and get the moonlight white version...it's beautiful and much less prone to showing fingerprints. I debated the graphics card update, which I had included on the dv3t, but the cons (cost, batery life decrease, heat) outweighed the pros (modest increase in game-playing ability). This computer is a speedster!

Whereas some computer companies start with higher prices and charge moderate prices for upgrades, HP starts with a low base configuration price and charges a premium for upgrades. It's therefore vital to take advantage of the special promotions and regularly available (but limited quantity) coupons.

All in all, I couldn't have found a better, faster, more feature-packed computer for the price. Very nice!!! Way to go, HP!!
