This is one fantastic Mini Netbook

I love my HP Mini 311 Netbook. It is portable, fits into almost any type of netbook sleeve or lap-top case, light weight, and very attractive. Love the keyboard which allows you to comfortably enter data be it at home or on the go. On top of all that, it is affordable and fast. Yes, I purchased an upgraded in memory but even with this upgrade, the purchase of the CD/DVD external drive and the purchase of the extended 1 year warranty my cost, out of pocket, was still reasonable and affordable. You get so much for your dollars because it comes with your wireless card and power cords at no extra costs to you.

I highly, highly recommend this wonderful new technology for anyone who wants to travel lightly and surf the net endlessly and quickly. This is one heck of a powerful PC, laptop and Netbook rolled all into one.

GREAT little netbook

Love my HP mini 311 netbook. Greatly surprised by it's speed at processing and ease of use. I purchased the upgrades including 3 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive, NVIDIA ION and Atom processor. I use it for business and personal use and it definately meets all of my needs when away from the office.

Obviously, it is a netbook and not a notebook but besides not having a DVD/CD drive - I don't notice too much of a difference...and as I said, it meets all of my needs when away from my main computer. I also use Windows 7 Home Premium therefore utilize the "homegroup" feature which is very convenient.

The 11.6" screen is an asset along with the overall light weight. The larger screen is much easier to use than the traditional netbook screen of 10.1". Battery use has been very dependable...can easily work 4.5-6 hours on a charge!

Have not found the keyboard sensitivity a problem. I do use a cordless mouse and keypad if I have a great deal of data entry. The touch pad took some getting use to but is not a problem.

Only challenge is finding a suitable carrying case to fit 11.6" screen. Most retailers do not carry cases or sleeves for 11.6" screens so it took some searching. Wanted a bag that enabled me to carry along the charger, mouse, portable DVD/CD drive, etc. if necessary.

I've had my HP netbook now for about 8 weeks and love it. I highly would recommend it to friends and family.

Greatest netbook

This is the greatest netbook in 2009, the ATOM + ION combination makes it perfect, but of course it is not as powerful as a full nice desktop built for gamers or multimedia, but will match a business computer easily.
I got it with Windows 7, and 1GB of ram, but as soon as I got it, I installed 1 module of 2GB for a total of 3GB, and I think 3GB is the perfect amount to combine with the Intel ATOM 280.
Pros: Perfect size of the display, nice keyboard, great performance for a netbook.
Cons: Touch pad not very sensitive
