mini 110

I own two and love them. This is an awesome computer for the internet. If you can get by without needing a cd rom then this is the perferct computer. I would recommend this computer for anyone but especially for someone who's always on the go or even for a child's first computer.

HP Mini 110 w/ SSD + fingerprint magnet

I initially bought this little netbook to replace an underpowered netbook I had gotten last year. WOW!, the netbook scene has changed since last summer. This model flies as compared to the other. I was blessed by GOD's Grace to get the Mini 110 with the SSD and HD decoder. The big point for getting this is I'm thinking XP is going away soon as HP offered Windows 7 Starter as an option to get w/ the thing. I'm used to XP and see Windows 7 for a future desktop I'll eventually have to get. The SSD is a must for the user who travels and/or uses this netbook a lot as that will safeguard precious data from the inevitable fall to the ground. It's worth the extra funds to get.

Also, I got the 6 cell battery as that's a very big boost for this computer. The Intel Atom N280 just screams past the Celeron version I used previously. Upping the memory to 2GB I believe is he best thing a new owner can do. After getting rid of some of the excess software, this little computer can do a lot that desktop PCs of over 10 years ago can't do. Also, the slightly bigger matte screen that's optional, is worth the cost to see what the Broadcon CrystalHD can do.

My only grumbles on this thing are these: the finish and the mouse buttons. The top is glossy and the bottom is a semi-matte textured finish. The whole thing should have been in this bottom finish. The Mini 110 is a fingerprint repository and makes the thing look dirty all the time, while scratching quite easily. The mouse buttons are weird and mitigated with a USB mouse. These are my two main points of contention with the Mini 110 from HP. I hope HP will make note of the good and negative features of this product.

Great option to escape the tyranny of Windows

This is just enough computer to keep connected when you don't want to carry a whole briefcase full of computer. The Mobile Internet Experience version of Linux is clean, simple to use, and way more fun than the generally cumbersome and problematic Windows product that you usually get on laptops. I got mine with a 16GB SSD drive, which is plenty of space for basic web surfing, e-mail, chat, and video-conferencing. HP did a great job packaging their custom version. I'm going to order one of these exactly the same for each of my four interns I get every semester.
