Best thing since sliced bread!

I was a little apprehensive at first about getting a netbook until I started researching them. For the money and ease of use the HP mini series was by far and away the best deal out there.
Portable, compact, fairly rugged, everything I was looking for and an almost full-size keyboard.
I followed up my purchase by buying 2 more for my kids so I've put my money where my mouth is.
I can take it with me on trips and to libraries, etc. and have no worries about the space available or the connectivity. I also added another 1Gb of RAM and now it runs much faster after also removing some bloatware.
I didn't want the bulkiness of a full-size laptop but still needed portability and I found it!

Mini 110 and Win7 Starter

First, the machine came lightning fast after I ordered it online from HP. It wasn’t stock though.
It had the extras I ordered: better screen, bigger battery, Win7, faster processor.
I bought the MSI UO881-P-15 to be the optical drive.
Everything worked great: fast start, 7-8 seconds to get on the internet from turn on; WIFI connection is solid with my wireless Netgear router;
Things to know that you wouldn’t I guess: WIN 7 doesn’t support printing to a LAN network printer, you’d need to upgrade for that, the machine comes with Virtual memory in Manual, you should change that to automatic so that some internet sites don’t over run your RAM and hang the browser, in order to use the optical drive for DVD’s you will need a program like Cyberlink DVD9 to give you the codecs and the player software.
Once you get these things worked out the DVD picture is awesome on the 1366x768 screen, the browsing is fast and uninhibited, and you need to print through a USB cable to a local printer. I’m very happy with this size, weight and screen quality.
My first HP is so far a very good experience.

Best Netbook on the market today!

I did a lot of research into looking for a well rounded netbook, one that could multi-task, stream video, and music. The HP mini 110 hits on all of these notes. One concern that I always had with netbooks were there keyboards. I'm a pretty large guy and I wanted to make sure I could type comfortably on it, and I can with the mini. The keyboard is large and the layout is very nice. One of the gripes that most people had with this netbook was the mouse pads unusual configuration. After 10 min of using it you don't even notice that the mouse buttons are to the sides. You just get use to it and HP has added a nice scroll pad as well to help with endless page scrolls. I upgraded to the HD screen, N280 atom processor, 6 cell battery, and the broadcom video accelerator. The computer is very fast loading pages, streaming video from Hulu and Youtube, and pandora works great as well. I would have to say with out a doubt the best upgrade you can make is upgrading to the Broadcom HD video accelerator. When I purchased my mini I wasn't really sure how the HD video accelerator would work but it is an amazing product! I used other netbooks and they had a hard time keeping up with the streaming video off of Hulu and other sites using 100% of their computing power. The product that Broadcom offers streams HD perfectly without any loss in frame rates or sound and only using around 30% of the CPU. Check out their review on their website and you'll see the difference. I'm running XP on it right now and may switch over to Ubuntu linux OS but I'm pretty happy with everything right now. Some cons would be the lackluster battery life and webcam images are a bit grainy but not a huge problem. I forgot to mention the HP web express software that comes included that offers quick startups to basic functions such as internet, email, music, and photos. Good Job HP A+
