Very good laptop

I have had this computer for about a week now and I must say, it is one of the most beautiful laptops I have ever seen. I purchased it to replace an HP dv8000t which died, after suffering some damage. The screen obviously is the main selling point, but I love the dual hard drive option and the quad core processor option. I have been using this computer non stop since i got it, and so far so good, very few bugs, and Overall I am pleased.

PROS
Screen size, Fingerprint reader, available options, performance. Speakers are quite good for a laptop, and the controls for them are great. If you opt for the TV tuner I think you will enjoy it, gets good reception, and the picture quality is remarkable.

CONS
As stated in about every other review, this computer is a smug magnet. Also the power and optical drive buttons are a bit difficult to push, and the numeric key pad seems a bit squishy in the middle, but has given me no problems.

Overall this seems to be one of the best laptops I have ever used, it handles well with whatever you through at it program wise. Graphics look superb, and surprisingly very few bugs in the main software. As a final comment let me say that this computer will work well as a desktop replacement, and is light enough to be taken around as a laptop; however, finding an appropriate bag to carry it in that does not have wheels, has been a nightmare. HP should really make a better bag for this comp.

Best Bang For Your Buck

I really love this computer, Should anyone want a really great laptop this is it.
I spent months looking for the right computer. I found hp's hdx18t. A laptop that looked great. The backlit keyboard was good for at night. The HD screen looks wonderful, And the speed is fast. The tv tuner is cool, And the full keyboard was nice. The sound quality of the speakers are awsome.
A great desktop replacement, And if you need to take it with you u can.

Not Bad at all

This is the first HP lap top I have owned. I loaded this unit will all types of upgrades but the one I would not recommend doing is the 64 bit system. There are too many glitches that have not been worked out yet. I have issues with Quicken not being able to print checks, and there are a couple of applications that the system shuts down at inopportune times. The response I get from the help desk it that "it is a 64 bit issue that is unresolved at this time." However, this thing is unbelievable... Downloads are beyond fast. I have an architect program that is 3D and it is flawlessly fast when moving thru house layouts, no hesitations or delays of any kind. The large screen is great for movies and the sound is unparalleled. I do suggest the upgraded battery size for longer run times when the unit is not docked.
All in All a GREAT machine.
