Good But Not Perfect!

I've been using this bad boy since July 4th, and I'm quite satisfy with it. This notebook price is very reasonable, comparing to other brands. The following are my experience with it over the last 2 months since I received it from HP:

PROS:
. Reasonable Price
. Easy to set everything up
. Beautiful keyboard and screen.
. The notebook itself is cooler than other laptop that I've owned before
. Awesome speaker, loud n' clear (with some exceptions however)
. Fan run quietly
. Gaming is quite good, not perfect though

CONS:
. Vista OS (My notebook got hit by Blue Screen of Death after a Windows Update and it kept restarting upon logging in. This was simply solved by running a Recovery at booting screen)
. Glossy attracted dirt, and fingerprint constantly.
. Fragile CD/DVD/BD Drive
. Very annoying touchpad.
. Sadly, when I played Rock/Techno songs the speaker doesn't deliver good quality sound.

Overall, HDX16t is a good notebook for those who budget is limited.

HDX 16t is just a little awesome.

I bought this computer in mid-August this year, expecting it by the very start of September. I received my case and my printer only four days after ordering the computer, and got the computer itself two days before it was expected to be shipped. I got the 64 bit Vista Home Premium, 2.53 GHz Dual Core Processor, 4 GB of RAM, 1 GB video card, 1920x1080p display, DVD-RW drive with Lightscribe, wireless N card, regular keyboard, and 6 cell battery. As far as performance goes, this PC is excellent. Everything runs smoothly, only occasionally hampered by the atrocity that is Windows Vista; however, I also receive a free copy of Windows 7, and know because of the beta that this is an excellent deal and an excellent switch. Just remember to save the confirmation emails you get, as they function as a proof of purchase for ordering a free copy of Windows 7. I have been able to do simple tasks such as word processing and whatnot with relative ease, and more complex tasks such as gaming have also performed very smoothly, with a little heating in the top right area of the computer, but nothing severe.. I encountered problems surfing the web wirelessly because of complications with my wireless card, but one call to HP got me a new one in two days, and now there's no problem. I enjoy the screen resolution: I recommend the bigger screen to everyone, for it makes working with multiple windows easy, and if using Microsoft Word or a similar application, simply fitting the page to the entire screen makes the document easy to read at even minuscule font sizes. I enjoy very much the fingerprint reader, though as that comes standard with the machine, there should be no decision there. I would have liked to get the backlit keyboard, but it isn't necessary; one thing I would recommend is getting both the 6 cell and the 12 cell battery. The 6 cell battery is great as far as taking up space, but the battery life is quite low. The 12 cell would be perfect if you need to use the computer for extended periods of time without charging, as I sometimes use my computer for. As far as construction of the computer, there are very few things that could be adjusted. First, the keyboard has some flex around the upper right hand area, but it really isn't a problem. The touch pad is a little sticky due to the fact that it and the rest of the computer are glossy, but you get used to it after a while. Everything attracts fingerprints, but a wipedown with a wet cloth and a dry cloth occasionally helps. Also, while 16 inches can seem huge, if you don't have a desktop, this is a prefect computer: fits easily into a backpack and has a big enough screen to do anything you want. This concludes the review portion, but I also have some general advice for anyone considering this product. First, if there is a major holiday coming up and you can wait for it to roll around, do so! You get so many more freebies and a good amount of money off. Also, take any free stuff you can get. This might seem obvoius, but you could find yourself asking if you really need something, since it could suck battery juice. Remember, you can always plug it in or get a bigger battery. Lastly, search online for coupons for HP. Just Google "HP coupons," and you get a list of coupons, sometimes really good ones that could save you hundreds. All in all, I've been very happy with my product, and given the opportunity, I would buy it again.

redicoulusly FAST Very well rounded

I own one, my buddy owns one and so I had to order one for my gf. Most bang for your buck at HP. The 1Gb video card is worth it, also the back-lit keyboard has been very nice. Extremely nice screen. can run on ac w/o batt. and u can swap batts when plugged into ac w/o shutting down! Though buttons work great along with the fingerprint reader. has the Intel 5100 wireless card. Great range and speed. I would recommend this laptop for anyone who wants the most for there money.
