A winner in every way. What a beauty!

Worth the money! I shopped for years for a laptop to replace both an elderly desktop and a defunct laptop. From time to time I was tempted but this one -- well, when I saw it, I knew it was my machine. I was able to get it at a great price and with almost everything I wanted. I love the way the keys feel and the fact it has a separate number pad. I do have to look to find the arrow keys but that's not a big deal. The screen is beautiful and everything looks nice and crisp.
The machine runs as well as it looks, so no complaints there. I am notorious for having multiple windows open and several grahpics-intensive programs running at the same time and it's only seized up once, so for a multitasker this machine can really do it.
It does love to use power so make sure you have either a spare battery or a handy wall plug nearby.
My son loves the fact the touch pad can be turned off or on. It's sensitive enough but I prefer a mouse for most of the tasks I perform (graphics and editing). We have mouse / touch pad wars where we try to commandeer the cursor from each other and so far the machine has not faltered! He also loves the way it looks ("Oh, Mom, look the HP on the back is lit up. Good design on the lid too"), works, and feels. 13-year olds are so perceptive!

I strongly recommend maxing the RAM and the graphics card if you get to spec the machine out and do more than just simple word processing and limited graphics. I got mine as a demonstrator model with 4MB RAM and the maxed NVIDEA graphics card and it makes tasks so much faster and quicker.

My only concerns are the CD/DVD player -- it's pretty loud so I'm not sure if that's a trait of that particular component or if I have a faulty one, and the amount of heat the system generates. It's nice and toasty on a cold day but in the long run I'll probably get a cooler to extend its life. If someone travels a lot, the weight and battery life may be an issue. Make sure to take the machine with you when looking for a bag as many of the bags are too small for this one.

Overall, I'm pleased as punch with my choice and I would recommend this computer for anyone looking for a machine with beauty, brains, and brawn.

Ahhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhh

Just purchased The HDX16 and I am very pleased. Nice finish easy to use and extremely quick.

Pros- Nice size and weight, picture is clear and colorful. Vista runs surprisingly well opposed to what others have said. Sounds good too! Fingerprint reader is amazing!

Cons- Touch controls are a little jerky.

It took me 3 months to review and look at as many LPs as I could. For the money this is a steal and well worth the wait for it to arrive.
