I bought my first Dell Laptop (Studio 15) this past Christmas "09. It iz used premarily for my digital photography, before it I had a IBM Thinkpad, going from a 12" screen to a 15" iz undiscribable It may be more computer than I need, or it well fill my needz as I become more a experiancened photographer. It has a built in antena to connect to the Internet, I use a MiFi 2200 from Verizion, it makez it so easy. I've downloaded the software that came with my camera (Nikon d5000) downloading imagez and using the progam makez editing imagez so easy, then uploading imagez, a breeze!! I've even downloaded some videoz from my JVC palmcoder with a built in hard drive, plug and play, this computer iz FANTASTIC for my audio/video needz.. At first I waz not happy with the Windows 7 0/s, was used to using XP. But now that I've gotten used to using it I am happy with it. I have a car charger for it so that I can download my imagez right after I finish my shooting imagez so that I can preview them. The contrast and colourz from the flat screen are fantastic!! Have not had a single issue with any of the hardware, cd/dvd burner, hard drive, the sound from the JBL speakerz is great when I listen to either CD'z, on line radio or online TV programs, couldn't be happier!! Thanx Dell

My Dell Studio 15 laptop, my fourth Dell computer, has been a nightmare horror story from the day I ordered it. First of all, once if was ordered, I was given a delivery date around 4 weeks away. When that time arrived, I was informed the computer had not yet been built and delivery would be delayed another couple of weeks. The delivery date kept slipping as I received voicemails from Mexico and India which did not permit me to discuss the issue with a real person. When I finally threatened to report Dell to the FTC, the laptop miraculously appeared. The laptop was missing an internal modem, which has always been built in to models I have ordered, and which I needed to access the Internet from my home in Ireland. When I ordered an external modem, the promised delivery date slipped and I ended up buying one at Radio Shack. When I arrived in Ireland a week later with my new laptop, the monitor immediately failed and Dell did not honor my next business day warrantee. Meanwhile I was struggling to get help from technical support geeks in India who did not have access to my "worldwide warrantee" and instead of trying to solve my problem, kept attempting to sell me parts and software service contracts. Once I had the monitor replaced, I experienced a host of operational problems including an uncontrollable trackball mouse and unpredictable automatic execution of program function keys.
When I returned to the USA from Ireland, the record of my US warrantee has been lost and it took me a full week of stressful phone calls to get it restored. The geeks in India literally had me in tears.
Having 25 years experience as a computer programmer and systems analyst, I am not an unsophisticated user of computers. From this position I unequivocably state that this is the worse computer, mainframe, mini, or personal, that I have ever owned and I deeply regret the money I spent on it and on longterm warrantees. It is my last Dell computer, for sure. Be warned: Dell is not the company it once was.
